Operation Details
'Bergbang' was a British operation by the Belgian Independent Parachute Company (5th Special Air Service) to cut some of the German lines of communications in the area to the east of the Meuse river (2/12 September 1944).
,The 41 Belgian troops, under the command of Lieutenant Raymond van der Heyden, were paradropped on 2 September too far from their operational area, which was the triangle bounded by LiƩge, Aachen and Maastricht, and were also dispersed during the landing by bad weather. The operation was therefore not successful.
