Operation Details
'Bunyan' was a British special forces raid by the Belgian Independent Parachute Company (5th Special Air Service) on German rear-area installations near the ForĂȘt de Senonches near Chartres (2/15 August 1944).
,The operation involved 21 men under the command of Lieutenant Gilbert Sadi-Kirschen, and in a period of just over a fortnight the Belgians inflicted a number of casualties on the German forces retreating through this area from the advancing Allies, and also radioed intelligence reports that allowed the Allied air forces to undertake a number of small but useful bombing raids against German targets in the area.
