Operation Details
'Cormorant' was a British offensive on the German positions to the south of Rauray in the Allied lodgement in Normandy after 'Overlord' (14 July 1944).
,The operation was undertaken by Major General G. H. A. MacMillan’s 15th Division, Major General E. H. Barker’s 49th Division and Major General D. A. H. Graham’s 50th Division of Lieutenant General Sir Richard O’Connor’s VIII Corps within Lieutenant General Sir Miles Dempsey’s 2nd Army, and was the immediate successor to 'Charnwood' and 'Jupiter' (ii).
,As such, 'Cormorant' was a British attack on the Norman villages of Evrecy, Noyers, Missy and Vendes, as well as the Juvigny forest.
