Operation Details
'Dervish' (ii) was an Allied unrealised strategic deception plan in North-West Europe (January/February 1945).
,The plan was designed with the object of causing the Germans to dissipate a significant part of their already much diminished war effort by imposing a credible threat to an area vital to their communications, industry and control. This was mooted by means of the threat of a landing by a major airborne formation, possessing the resources to support themselves for 30 days, in the area bounded by Stendal, Brandenburg, Wittenberg and Magdeburg.
