Operation Details
'DT' (ii) was a British naval undertaking against coastal targets in the Trondheim area of German-occupied Norway (20/23 September 1940).
,The operation was centred on the Fairey Swordfish and Blackburn Skua aircraft of Nos 801, 816 and 825 Squadrons operating from the elderly carrier Furious, which was supported by the heavy cruisers Berwick and Norfolk, and destroyers Somali, Matabele and Eskimo. Target information was spare in the extreme, so the attacking aircraft achieved little and in its attack on Trondheim the Fleet Air Arm lost six aircraft.
