'Esme A' was a British diversionary movement during the capture of Madagascar after 'Ironclad', taking the form of an advance by Brigadier G. T. Senescall’s South African 7^th Motorised Brigade from Ambilobe, just to the south of Antsirane in northern Madagascar, during the capture of Majunga by Brigadier F. W. Festing’s British 29^th Independent Brigade Group (10 September 1942).
