Operation Details

Kleiner Bär (i)

'Kleiner Bär' (i) was a German scaled-down version of 'Bär' (ii), in which Generaloberst Wilhelm Ritter von Leeb’s Heeresgruppe 'C', reinforced with Italian troops, was to have advanced from the area of the Kaiserstuhl toward the French city of Belfort (15 June 1940).

,

The scaled-down version of the original plan was necessitated by the non-availability of Italian troops, and took the form of a limited advance into the Vosges region.
