Operation Details
'MTC' was the designation of Allied military convoys (together with a numerical suffix) plying the route from the Bay of the Seine to Southend in succession to the 'FTC' series to return empty coasting cargo vessels to the UK, and as such reciprocals of the 'TMC' series (October/December 1944).
,Associated with the Allied land advances into Belgium and the Netherlands from the Normandy lodgement gained in 'Overlord', there were 60 such convoys between MTC.1 of 10/11 October comprising only the 4,108-ton British Fairwater and MTC.60 of 8/9 December comprising three British vessels in the form of the 10,492-ton Clan Macaulay, 1,495-ton Colonel Crompton and 7,255-ton Samaustral.
