'OW' (ii) was the designation of Allied convoys (together with a numerical suffix) plying the route from Australia to Ceylon, India and the Middle East (November 1942/July 1945)
,The first of this 'Outbound West' series was OW.1 of 24 November/15 December 1942 in which the 6,679-ton US Agwiprince, 7,402-ton British Goldmouth, 8,704-ton Dutch Tarakan and 4,766-ton Norwegian Tatra made the passage from Fremantle, Western Australia, to Bandar Abbas, Iran, and the last of the 16 such convoys was OW.8 of 21/30 July 1945 in which two 9,943-ton US Army attack transports, General E. T. Collins and General M. M. Patrick, journeyed from Fremantle, Western Australia, to Calcutta, India.
