Operation Details
'Workshop' was a British unrealised plan for the capture of the Italian island of Pantelleria in the Mediterranean Sea between Sicily and North Africa (October 1940/January 1941).
,Devised at the instigation of Prime Minister Winston Churchill as what was by any objective assessment an impractical way to take an initial offensive step against Italy, the plan was not longer practical after February 1941 given the 'Sonnenblume' arrival of Generalleutnant Erwin Rommel’s Deutsches Afrikakorps to supplement the Italian forces in North Africa.
